Billingsgate Fish Market was London’s most historic and picturesque market. It was popularly accepted as offering the best choice of fish in the world, but more than a thousand years of trading was brought to an end when it was moved to West India Dock in 1982. Sally Fear recorded the last months of that community in the old Market and the first few days of the then new Market.
